how fit do I need to be?

Leave your computer right now, go and dust off your bike and see if you can ride for 30 kms with a little break half way along.  Then do it again for the next two days.  That's how fit you have to be.  Not exactly TDF level, but fitter than the average guy.  There will be a couple of 60-70km days but we break those long rides up over the whole day.  No sweat!

what's the terrain like?

Mostly flat to undulating as we glide along the Loire river, but there are a few little ascents.  Nothing too scary, but yes, you will have to pedal :)

do i need to bring any cycling equipment?

No.  The hire company will have your bike fully serviced and ready to go.  A few comments to make here are - no clips, and e-bikes cost a bit more.  We will have the necessary locks, keys and pumps.

what's the accommodation like?

We choose to book in 3-4* bed and breakfast type places where the hosts want to chat with you and look after you.  In these places breakfast is always included, along with a glass of rosé on arrival (they insist even at 10am).

what should i wear?

We aren't cycling professionals.  We wear quick dry shorts or active wear and a T-shirt.  For going out at night, consider that you only have two paniers and your backpack, so only one other pair of shoes (other than ones you're riding in) and light comfortable schrunchable clothing.

do I need to bring wet weather gear?

A light but weather proof riding jacket is necessary.  A wet weather cover for your backpack is recommended but you can manage with a sturdy garbage bag - so stylish!

will my dietary requirements be taken into consideration?

At breakfast NO!  Where breakfast is included (which is most of the places we choose), they provide croissants, bread and an array of confitures (jams).  But usually at all other meals you can pick and choose a bit to suit your needs.

do i need to speak french?

No, you do not.  At all the major tourist attractions there are multilingual assistants, and Ruth speaks enough to get by :)
